81 Different Language Spoken in Nepal – Nepali Language is the First

List of 75 Languages of Nepal

1) Nepali language : –

It is the most spoken language of Nepal. From the census of the Nepal 2011, there are total 44.63926934 % which is equal to 11,826,953 people. However the most of the people speak Nepali language, but the tone and the aberration of the words are different according to their locality. Historically, this language is believed to have been originally called as Khas language. And finally Gorkha li the people of the Gorkha, united the nation and from that time this is the only language that is being used as the government official language up to this date.

2) Maithili language:-

Which is the second most spoken language of Nepal? It is the second most language spoken in Nepal. The statics of Nepal census 2011 have the statics of maithali speaking people are of 11.67234533 % which is equal to 3,092,530. These people are spread in the southern Nepal, mainly in Sunsari, Saptari, Rautahat, Parsa, Makwanpur etc. Devanagari is the script of a writing of Maithili.

3) Bhojpuri language:-

It is the third most language spoken in Nepal. 5.982214274% or 1,584,958 people of Nepal are speaking Bhojpuri in Nepal. People speaking Bhojpuri are spread over the Terai region of Nepal mainly to the border side of the India. Devanagari is also the script of writing of Bhojpuri.

4) Tharu language :-

Tharu language is spoken by the people of the Tharu community which are known as the native of the Terai region of Nepal. 5.7743 % equivalent to 1,529,875 people are censused on 2011 as speaking the Tharu language. Entirely Tharu language are different in script as per their region. For eg. Chitwaniatharu is spoken by about 250000 speakers around the east of Gandaki river of the Terai. This is quite similar to the Awadhi. SimilarlyDangaura, Rana and Buksa refer to be spoken by the west of the Gandaki river. And Kochilia as the diverse Tharu variant, is spoken by the people from the eastern Nepal.

5) Tamanglanguage  :-

Tamang language is spoken by the Tamang people. Tamang people are spread over whole Nepal making cluster of their community. This language is spoken by 5.1078 % people that is 1,353,311 people from all over Nepal speak Tamang language. Tamang languages use Tamyig which is similar to Tibetan scripts and Devanagari In many situations, however, Tamang is written in Devanagari proper.

6) Newari language:-

Newari language is mainly spoken by the Newar people. They are considered as the native people of the Kathmandu valley. About 3.19 % of the people that is equivalent to 846,557 people are found speaking Newari language as their mother tongue. Inside Kathmandu Valley, It is the second-most spoken language after Nepali, but they are in sixth in position while talking of whole Nepal.

7) Bajjika language:-

Bajjika is supposed to be the dialect of the Maithili language spoken by the people living in the Terai region. It’s about 3% people whole over Nepal that count of 293,416 people.  This language are in practiced to the small number of people in Sarlahi, Mahottari and Rautahat districts of Nepal.

8) Magar language:-

This language are spoken by the Magar people, which are about 2.97 percent equivalent to the 788,530 people. Magar people are spread all over the Nepal making the cluster of their community.

9) Dotyali language:-

Dotyaliare considered as the western dialect of Nepali, as well as written in the Devanagari script same as the Nepali language. About 2.973% of people in Nepal equivalent to the 787,827 people speak dot yali, Unlike another language which has the cultural origin, this language has the regional origin of the mid western region District name called Doti.

10) Urdu language :-

It is spoken by the Muslim community specially, which are spread making small cluster of their community all over Nepal. Statically It is spoken as mother tongue by 2.610 % of the population of Nepal which is equivalent to the 691,546 people.

11) Awadhi language :-

It is the language spoken by the people of  Terai people mainly in the shaptari, sunsari, Bhojpuri etc district. About 1.89375% of people of Nepal speak this language which is equivalent to 501,752 people. In Awadhi community, Awadhi language is included in the curriculum subject at the school level, promoting the Awadhi language.

12) Limbu language :-

Limbu language is spoken by Limbu community. Those people live in the eastern part of the Nepal mainly in the Koshi and Mechizone.. about 1.2968% of the people of Nepal speak Limbu language equals to 343,603 people. They has their own unique writing system, and is similar to Tibetan and Sikkimese scripts.

13) Gurung language :¬-

Gurung language also called as Tamu language, which is the mother tongue language of the Gurung community. They are about 1.22% of Nepal population, that is about 325,622 people of Nepal. They are found in mainly in the Gandaki and Dhaulagiri region.

14) Baitedelilanguage :-

These people are found in the mid-western region around the district Baitadi, so named its name after this district. Baitedeliare considered as the western dialect of Nepali, as well as written in the Devanagari script same as the Nepali language. There are about 1.028 % of people who speak Baitedeli language which is equal to 272,524 people in Nepal.

15) Rai language :-

Rai language is the typical language spoken by the rai people and Kirat people as well. It is also called asDhanwar Rai language, an Indo-Aryan language spoken in different parts of Nepal. It is spoken by 0.6 % of people of Nepal which is equal to 159,114 people. They live mainly in the chure range of Nepal.
