Wildlife Reserves of Nepal

The wildlife reserves include the conservation and management of animal and their habitats. Rare and endangered or particular animals are conserved in the wildlife reserves through proper management of their habitats in order to increase the number. Like national parks, poaching or hunting of wildlife, cutting of trees, cairying domestic animals and making houses inside the park are strictly prohibited. People are also not allowed. Facilities related to develop the tourism are also not allowed. The total area of wildlife reserve in Nepal is 979 sq. km. Wildlife reserve is a reversed area for the protection of wildlife. 1. Parsa Wildlife Reserve

Area of Parsa Wildlife Reserve : 499 sq. km

Established year of Parsa Wildlife Reserve: 1984

Location of Parsa Wildlife Reserve: Parsa Wildlife Reserve is located in Chitwan, Makwanpur, Parsa and Bara districts of Nepal. It occupies 4 districts of Nepal.

2. Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

Area of Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve: 175 sq. km

Established year of of Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve: 1976

Location of of Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve:: Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is located on the flood plains of the Sapta-Koshi river in Saptari and Sunsari, districts Nepal.

3. Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve

Area of Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve: 155 sq. km; 305 sq. km after completion of the extension.

Established year of of Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve: 1975 and gazetted in 1976.

4. Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve

Area of Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve: 1325 sq. km.

Established year of Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve: 1983 and gazetted in 1987

Location of Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve: It adjoins Rukura, Myagdi and Baglung Districts. It is located in the Dhaulagiri Himal range, which lies in the western region of Nepal.
