One day, you wake up in the morning and you found out that you are the hot topic in social media, newspapers, and television. You are the center of attraction to everyone. How would you feel?

Well, It might be the dream of most youngsters but not all of them are as lucky as Kusum Shrestha, a Tarkariwaali. Who ever imagined that one day a girl from a small village would get such publicity?

According to the Gundruk post, Rupchandra Maharjan clicked Kusum Shrestha’s picture and posted it on social media with the hastagTarkariwaali which went viral overnight. Just a week, a chaiwallah from Pakistan named Arshad Khan won millions of hearts after his picture was posted on social media.

Kusum Shrestha, A tarkariwali, just 18 is from the hilly village of Wangilang of Bhumlichowk 8, Gorkha district of Nepal. She is the only child of Mr. Chandra Narayan Shrestha and Mrs. Gyanu Shrestha. She is studying in class 11 at Quest Model College, Chitwan’sRatnanagar in the management section. From the Bhadrakali Lower Secondary School, she completed her lower secondary education. Then, she did her SLC at Gyanmarga Secondary School of Ghyalchowk. Her parents are farmers. So, whenever she gets free time, she helps her parents to sell vegetables. It takes her an hour and a half from Bhumlichowk to reach the Trishuli River Bridge and to arrive at Fishling Bazaar, where she sells her vegetables. Many locals of Bagling village bring their vegetables to the market for sale.

According to BBC news, she had found out about the pictures from a friend.

“At first one of my friendshad asked me if the girl was me whose photos has become viral on social media. But I didn’t know,” Miss Shrestha said. “Then when I saw the pictures, I was surprised. It was me. That day, I came to market to sell the vegetables. When I was on going market to sell the vegetables, RupChandra (the photographer) took my picture – but at that time, I didn’t know that I was being photographed.”

According to the Himalayan times, Shrestha said that she was joyed about the fame but she was worried that her photo may be misused, and was facing pressure due to the excessive publicity she has never thought of. Many people have suggested she take a career in modeling but she has no interest in it. Although she wanted to be a nurse, she had to choose commerce for her +2 studies because of the low marks in SLC.

Mr. Chandra Narayan, her father told myrepublica.com, ‘’Millions of people have viewed her photo. I don’t know if this is good or bad. My daughter is very happy as well as fed up. Now, she hesitates to come down to the market since everyone started asking her about her popularity on the Internet”.

After she was famous and well-known by millions all over the world, she has been offered modeling as well as the lead role in films. According to one of the Nepali actress-related blogs, Kusum Shrestha is being offered a role in a movie titled ‘Lamfu’, the movie by director Gopal Chandra Lamichhane but the confirmation is yet to come. She has done a photo shoot in the Saaptahik, a weekly newspaper. A song related to her was also released.
