History of Tribhuvan University;

Tribhuvan University is the most established and biggest college in Nepal which was established under the TU act in 1959. The college was named after the late King Tribhuvan.   • Institute of Medicine;

The Institute of Medicine (IoM) offers countless courses in various disciplines of health sciences. In this present time, it has 7 constituent colleges and 16 affiliated colleges.

  • Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science;

At first, the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) had started as a school of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture in 1957 to prepare Junior Technical Assistant in horticulture. In 1968, the school was moved up to the school of agribusiness with two-year I.Sc.Ag. program.

In the year 1972, The school was given the status of IAAS as the essential foundation of Tribhuvan University. The mission of the organization is to elevate horticultural science and to prepare labor for farming advancement concentrating on instructing, research and dispersal of rural advances.

  • Institute of Forestry;

Faculty of Law teaches about the laws, rules, and regulations of the country. This faculty educates the student about the court and its guidelines. It provides knowledge and helps to explain about government plan and policy under the act of constitution.

5) Faculty of Science and Technology:

This faculty teaches about the different subject based on pure science and its invention. It also provides the knowledge on different technology which makes us essay to do daily works. 1) Tribhuwan University

This is the oldest university of Nepal. It was established in 2019 B. S. This university runs different faculties through different college and institutes. Education, Engineering, Medicine, Science & Technology, Agriculture & Veterinary, Forestry, Nepali, Geology, Economics, Political Science, Population Education, Sanskrit, Management, etc are taught in this university.

The central office of this university is located in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. TU provides affiliation to private colleges to conduct various programmes at different levels. One thousand fifty-three (1053) private colleges spread all over the country have so far received affiliations from TU.

2) Nepal Sanskrit University

This university was established in 2043 B.S. This university teaches Sanskrit. Its central office is located in Beljhundi, Dang. The university offers Intermediate (Uttar Madhyama), Bachelor (Shastri), Bachelor of Education, Masters (Acharya) and Doctoral courses in classical and modern subjects. It also offers intermediate in Ayurveda. The university has 12 constituent and 13 affiliated Vidhyapithas (campuses) located in different parts of the country.

3) Kathmandu University

Kathmandu University is an autonomous, not-for-profit, nongovernment! an institution dedicated to maintaining high standards of academic excellence. It is j committed to developing leaders in professional areas through quality education. This university was established in 2048 B.S.

It is located in a mountainous landscape in Dhulikhel Municipality about 30 kilometers east of Kathmandu (KTM) having round-the-year pleasant climate and panoramic Himalayan Views.

Within a period of 21 years, KU has built not only reasonable infrastructure but also established a track record of academic excellence. At present, the University offers various undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs in science, engineering, medicine, management, education, arts, pharmacy, environment, music, human & natural resources, information technology and biotechnology, through School of Science, School of Management, School of Engineering, School of Medical Sciences, School of Education and School of Arts.

4) Purbaanchal University

Purbaanchal University was established in 2051 B.S. This university provides, General and Technical education. This university provides courses under the faculty of science, humanities, management, education, law and fine arts. The central office of this university is located in Morang.

5) Pokhara University

Pokhara University was established in 2054 B.S. This university consists of 4 constituent colleges and 49 affiliated college. This university has run the program under humanities, management, science, engineering, agriculture and veterinary and technology. The central office of this university is located in Kaski.

6) Agriculture and Forestry University

The Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) was established in Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal in 2010. This is the first agriculture and forestry university in the country. The university aims at producing highly skilled human resources required to work on quality research and development in agriculture.

It aims at the all-round development of agriculture and forestry which would raise the socio-economic conditions of rural people through quality teaching, research, and extension in agriculture, livestock, and forestry. The mission of Agriculture and Forestry University is to produce competent manpower to promote education, research and development in agriculture, forestry and allied disciplines.

“This university was founded merging Rampur Agriculture Campus of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science and Forestry Campus, Hetauda of the Institute of Forestry of the Tribhuvan University of Nepal. This university inherits undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. programs in agricultural sciences of Rampur Campus and undergraduate program in forestry of Hetauda Campus.

The educational programs are supported by quality research and developmental activities. The Rampur Campus has 4- year B.Sc. Ag, 5- year B. V. Sc. & AH, 2 year Master programs in Agriculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Science and Aquaculture, and Ph.D. programs.

The Hetauda Forestry Campus has Technical Certificate Level and Bachelor of Forestry programs. Besides improving the existing academic programs, the university is planning to start Master and Ph.D. programs in forestry and also additional programs such as biotechnology, agri-business, biodiversity, climate change and the likes in the near future.

7) Mid-western University (MU)

Mid-western University (MU) is an autonomous and public institution of higher learning with the mission to serve the people of Nepal and enrich the global learning community by extending the advantages of higher education. Established by the Government of Nepal with a Parliament Act on June 17, 2010, A. D. under the concept of multi-university system, Mid-Western University is a state-supported institution, founded on land donated by the Government of Nepal.

The constituent campuses of the University and the Central Administration Office are located in Birendranagar Municipality, in the District of Surkhet, Nepal. Although Mid-western University is still in the making and has a long way to go before becoming fully operative, the University gathers a tremendous political support from the existing parties and above all enjoys wide enthusiastic participation and support of the local people.

The establishment of Mid-western University represents the fulfillment of a cherished dream of the people of this area, who particularly showed an applicable example through their contribution to a fundraising program geared up for the establishment of this University.

Moreover, the University also enjoys a strong support from the existing campuses throughout the region: land, property, human resource and students of the existing Tribhuvan University’s affiliated campuses in the region have been merged under this University. Aware of these extraordinary and propitious circumstances, the University aims at promoting the advancement of learning and dissemination of knowledge for the overall welfare of the nation.

8) Far-Western University (FU)

Far-Western University (FU) was established in 2010 through an Act of Parliament as a government-funded the university. The central office of the university is located at Bhimdatta Municipality of Kanchanpur district. Since its inception, FU has been striving to fulfill its responsibility of making higher education accessible to the people of this region.

The university envisages seven Faculties covering different academic areas. However, the university began fourteen undergraduate programs from last year at Siddhanath Multiple Campus, Mahendranagar under the four Faculties (Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, Management, and Science and Technology) keeping in view the available human resources there.

All the undergraduate courses of the university are of four-year duration. From the current academic session, graduate programs in eight different disciplines in the above faculties will also begin. Two research level programs have also been proposed to start this year.
