With an Ethernet switch connecting to OLT(Optical Line Terminal), it can provide multiple network management methods, and operators can easily configure and monitor the devices. A typical PON (Passive Opitcal Network) system consists of OLT, ONU(Optical Network Unit), and ODN(Optical Distribution Network). The OLT is placed in the central computer room, and the ONU is the user terminal equipment. ODN is an optical distribution network, which mainly connects OLT and ONU by one or several optical splitters. Its function is to distribute downstream data and concentrate upstream data.

The OLT is not only a switch or router but also a multi-service providing platform, providing optical fiber interfaces for passive optical fiber networks. In addition to providing network concentration and access functions, OLT can also perform bandwidth allocation, network security and management configurations according to different requirements of users’ QoS/SLA. An optical splitter is a simple device that does not require a power source and can be placed in an all-weather environment.

On the one hand, A V-SOL OLT V1600x is used to access data and then it uplinks to the V3500 series LAN switch that converges the data from OLT and acts as an entrance to the IP core. IP Core connects to the IPTV server, Internet, and Softswitch. Firstly, when it connects to ONU HG323ACT that supports XPON(EPON & GPON) with 4*5dBi high-gain antennas and CATV ports, you can achieve triple-play services. The wireless network is also allowed.

Similarly, V-SOL’s triple-play ONU HG323RGW can also meet these demands. Secondly, you can set up a mesh WiFi network without cabling in your house. As shown in the image, an outdoor CPE and be installed outside to receive WiFi signals from the 4G/5G base station.
