Internet and tech devices are a combo that has entered our lives to a great extent. Some scholars even argue that people nowadays spend more time on their phones than they do in real life. This has of course become a concerning problem, especially for the young generations who are exposed to this phenomenon since an early age.

As a result, many people have been addressing this issue and talking on how to monitor the time screen for every internet user, regardless of their age group. This is clearly possible if a few things, which we will discuss today, are to be considered.
People spend time on the internet in different websites and various apps that offer some sort of service. For example, they use texting apps such as WhatsApp to communicate with one another, Instagram to post pictures, Twitter to tweet out their opinions and so on.
Often, we find ourselves trapped into these mainstream apps and most of the time, we waste our time unreasonably in sites that don’t really serve us anything. But don’t worry anymore because I am here today to tell you how and where to spend time online wisely! So, let’s get started immediately!
Entertaining ways to earn money
Let’s first get this out of the way – we will continue to spend time online, even if we are aware that we shouldn’t do it as much. Isn’t that the truth? However, that doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing as the possibilities to do something that will bring us benefits are plenty.
It is of course not useful if you spend a lot of time simply scrolling on the mainstream apps, but what if I tell you that there are websites that will benefit you financially? Yes, that is true. There are entertaining ways to earn money on the internet, such as filling in a survey on Swagbucks, writing fashion brands reviews or by listing your DIY products on Etsy. These are only some examples, and of course everything gets better with practice, but once you learn the techniques and strategies of these sites, you are able to generate a considerate side income.
So, this way while being online, you are not wasting your time on apps that will literally earn from you if you spend time on them, but instead you are investing it into something that will increase the numbers in your bank account.
Creative platforms
This next suggestion is for all of the creative people out there who want to put their creativity into practice in one way or another. So, if you are an artist in painting, taking photographs, writing, creating music or any other artistic field, then this is for you.
Some suggestions for those who work with illustrations of any kind are the creative platforms Behance and DeviantArt where you can go and upload your portfolio. To all my writers our there, use Medium, WordPress or Wattpad to promote your writings with other peers, while you can use AI platforms such as ChatGPT which is considered the best AI language model to help you with generating ideas.
Those that create music should definitely consider uploading their work on SoundCloud, Splice or Patreon, while those that create video content have platforms like YouTube, Vimeo or TikTok to post their work. All of these websites are spaces for artists and content creators to show off their talent, which then exposes your work and allows other to see it and reach out to you for collaborations.
How to know when you have had enough screen time?
The internet is a resource that we can use for a good cause as we saw in the previous paragraphs; however, it is important that we don’t misuse or overuse it. Hence, it is crucial that we are aware on how much time we are spending in front of the screen because it doesn’t only harm our eyesight, but also affects us physically and mentally.
So, be mindful and read the signs; if you have a headache, back discomfort or your eyes are strained, then it is recommended that you take a break off screen for at least 20 minutes.
Apart from that, we should never allow screen time to substitute quality time that we can spend in real life with the people around us. So, instead of spending all day in front of a screen, go out there and spend time with friends or family because one thing is for sure, the digital world will never be able to replace real life connections and emotions we feel when interacting with one another.
Conclusion
We are all aware of how the internet and screens have invaded every corner of our lives. However, as pointed out earlier in this article, we suggest that people use them wisely and know how much time they are spending on them. Additionally, we recommended a few sites that are actually beneficial for anyone, based on what they do in their real life.
So, ultimately, internet has so much to offer and is a resource that we should all use because if used for good intentions, the benefits are endless!
