Every religious group shall have the right to protect its religious places and shrines according to law by maintaining their independent existence. All religions within the state enjoy equal recognition, privilege, and freedom. The state shall not have a religion, hence no government decisions and activities are influenced by religion. Journey to a shrine or other sacred places undertaken to gain divine aid as an act of thanksgiving or penance, or to demonstrate devotion is called pilgrimage. The tradition of pilgrimage is important in all religions. Kathmandu Valley is called the valley of temples. There are numerous places of pilgrimages out of Kathmandu also.
