The Great Himalayan Range, never- bowing hills of emerald forests and stunning low-land plains undoubtedly makes Nepal the best adventure destination; not only for experts but also for amateurs and beginners who wish for gratifying experiences of adventures.

Too often people have wanted these experiences but ignored their will to pursue it because of a common misconception that treks or hikes are best left to the experts. Here’s a list of awesome and mellow trek/hike experiences in Nepal that also amateurs can blissfully enjoy.

5 Awesome Treks or Hikes for Amateur Adventurers in Nepal

1. Jomsom – Muktinath Trek

This trek takes you to beautiful district of Mustang and to an elevation of 3800 meters. The amazing thing about this trek is that you can spend as much as time you want here without ever running out of trails to explore. One can directly fly to Jomsom or travel by road via Pokhara and through Beni.

From there you can opt to trek (i.e. if you have more time) or travel by vehicle. Anyways, you get to encounter the amazing Kaligandaki River and the deepest gorge along the trail with beautiful hilly landscapes and sights of mountains such as Nilgiri. The trail is barely tough and the altitude change is gradual and convenient.

You can witness the change in landscape and the biodiversity that is simply refreshing. You get to explore the historical villages of once “Kingdom of Mustang” and religious shrines, monasteries, stupas and so on.

The holy “Muktinath Temple” is one of the major religious shrines of Hindus and Buddhists where people worship and bathe in the 108 Dharas or taps and then submerge fully three times in the small pool right in front of the temple. The energy around this place is simply sublime and you can surely feel the sublimity all through the trek.

2. Ghandruk – Chhomrong – Landruk Trek

One of the most relaxing yet satisfying treks that Nepal has to offer can be experienced on this inspiring circuit route. Starting from Pokhara, a beautiful city with a beautiful lake, the trails this trek offers is simply breathtaking.


You start through small village settlements with farms, streams and waterfalls and green vegetation sights and make your way above to the settlement of Ghandruk, right at the lap of Annapurna. Though the trek is mostly up-hill, you can start early and take your time comprehending the perfect boon of natural manifestations.

The south face view of Annapurna is more than enough to keep you going through little ups and downs of the fairly moderate trails. As you advance to Chhomrong, the face-to-face encounter with mighty Annapurna might seem overwhelming but that is not all this trek has to offer.

Moving forward to Landruk offers you plenty of scenic beauty, friendly locals, and hot water spring. The magnificent views of mountains towards the end of the trek is a perfect cherry on top and the entire package itself ensures a wide grin across your face. Add to that you end your trip at Pokhara enjoying the astounding view of Lake Phewa.

3. Everest View Trek

Trekking in Nepal might seem somewhat incomplete if you can’t even get a glimpse of the mighty Mt. Everest. To beginner’s delight, there are easier ways to see the highest peak of the world up close. For this trek, you will have to fly to Lukla, a nice town at the altitude of about 2800 meters.

The flight alone, on a clear day, offers the most memorable view of mountains. You hike easily towards the village of Phakding. The highlight of the trek beside Mt. Everest is the beautiful Namche Bazaar that sits at the altitude of approximately 3440 meters and about 5-6 hours trek from Phakding.

This place is almost a ‘mini city’ since you can find everything including the internet, phone services, banks, restaurants and so on. The hike up to here is already very rewarding with extraordinary experiences. As for the rest of the trek, you will have a few options depending on your willingness to take a challenging trek. A much simpler and fulfilling option would be to trek to “Tengboche Monastery”.


The ascending walk through fir and rhododendron, not to mention the panoramic Mountain views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse and a few more from the Monastery is quite awesome. The altitude of 3800 meters already gives you a sense of overwhelming happiness plus the actual first-hand meeting with Mt. Everest is no doubt one of the best feeling one can ever have in a lifetime.

A downhill trek from here takes you back to Namche where you can still plan routes back to Lukla that suits your interest. This entire trip can be surprisingly easy given the rewards it gives. Also the fact that it provides you with a number of alternatives makes it quite convenient treks in Nepal.

4. Langtang Region Trek

Langtang Region Trek has a lot to offer. With a little research or googling, you can plan yourself a perfect trip depending on the duration and willingness to challenge yourself. Although the Langtang Region treks are not very strenuous, beginners might find it quite challenging. But I promise you, anyone can do it and it will also be very satisfying.

The first trekking option can be trekking to the holy lake of Gosainkunda situated at the altitude of about 4500 meters. You can either trek from Dhunche, 6-7 hour drive from Kathmandu, which will take you 2 days of entirely uphill walk, or make your way through Shivapuri National Park near Kathmandu.

The later will take up to 4-5 days of ascending and descending via villages and forest routes entering Langtang National Park. You climb up and down exactly nine hills and witness amazing landscapes along with boasting Mountains and maybe even some animals such as red pandas, monkeys, snow leopards, etc.

This will take you to the altitude of 4600 meters and if you’re willing you can climb “Surya Peak” at 5000 meters. You can see few other lakes as you make your way down to the Gosaikunda Lake.

The other options for Langtang region trek can be the trek to Langtang valley. The trek starts with the 8-hour drive to Syafrubesi from Kathmandu. You trek for 5-6 hours along terraced fields and dense forest to Lama Hotel at 2580 meters.

Bird lovers might enjoy this trail even more. The trail from here to Langtang valley is elevated but the views are breathtaking. Langtang village is at the altitude of 3500 meters and provides an excellent panoramic view of Langtang peaks. You can opt to trek further higher towards Kyangjin Gompa (3900 meters) that is a little tougher trek.

There are plenty of such treks and shorter hikes around Langtang Region that you can enjoy with relatively lesser work than that of longer extreme treks. This trek is sure to give one plenty of mountains and green hills experience with extraordinary vegetation biodiversity.

5. Shivapuri National Park Trek

If you wish for a simpler trek than above mentioned treks, a trek along the hills of Nagarjung and Shivapuri would be a perfect experience for you. Kathmandu Valley is well known for its culture and this trek sure gives a unique view of not only that but the wildlife, vegetation and scenic beauty including an array of delighting mountainous views.


It all starts from Kakani, a village at about 2000 meters and you make your way through the National Park to reach Gurje Bhanjyang. This pass is a perfect vantage point that overlooks the vast wide hills to the north of Kathmandu valley at the end of which presents a splendid view of Himalayas.

As you proceed to Chisapani, you can enjoy the fresh and relaxing environment all through the forest trails. You can get glimpses of Kathmandu Valley and surrounding hills. Chisapani offers another view of vast hills and mountains and good sunrise and sunset. You move along the Shivapure Hill ridge towards beautiful hill station of Nagarkot, hiking trails that give unobstructed sights of Mountains.

You can witness various cultural diversity and meet smiling locals. Towards the end, you can choose either to return to Kathmandu or explore additional places. This trek can offer you plenty of cultural observations that include monasteries, temples as well as the typical living habitats and local Nepalese.
