Even though he was born in a prison, he was safely taken to Gokul. There he grew up happily and became famous for his miracles and loving nature.

On this special day, people clean and decorate their homes and temples with flowers and lights. Many devotees keep a fast and pray to Lord Krishna.

At midnight, people sing devotional songs and celebrate Krishna’s birth with great joy. Temples are bright and full of devotion.

Children dress up as little Krishna and Radha. They wear colorful clothes and peacock feathers. In many places, people celebrate Dahi Handi, where teams try to break a pot filled with butter.
