As vacation destinations go, the Caribbean is hard to beat. It has it all – gorgeous weather, stunning beaches, beautiful scenery and wildlife, and diverse and fascinating culture that makes every visit different.
With so many spots to choose from on the islands, it can be hard to narrow your options down. But there are a few places that stand out, even amongst the array of paradise destinations that are scattered throughout the archipelago. And one of these locations in the Cayman Islands.
The Cayman Islands is the largest British Overseas Territory, a perfect little slice of sun-drenched heaven sitting between Cuba, Honduras, Jamaica, and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.
With attractions like Seven Mile Beach, Savannah, Stingray City, and Hell, as well as remarkable scuba diving in the wrecks and reefs around the islands, the Cayman Islands is a once-in-a-lifetime vacation destination. And its capital Georgetown is the ultimate base from which to explore the joys that these islands provide.

So if your summer plans include knowing the western Caribbean on a cruise, or if you are thinking of international relocation and scoping out your options, why not make Georgetown a part of your itinerary and discover the joys of this delightful little corner of paradise?
Here are 6 of the best things to see and do in and around Georgetown.
Explore Seven Mile Beach
Although erosion now means that there are only five and a half miles of sand, Seven Mile Beach is still a truly stunning sight and remains one of the finest beaches in the whole world. Starting on the edge of Georgetown it meanders along the coast and is the perfect place to lie back, relax, and drink in the gorgeous atmosphere of Grand Cayman.
Live the high life
The Cayman Islands is one of the world’s biggest tax havens, and as such the charming, vibrant, and brightly colored capital is packed full of the super-rich. Get a taste of the finer things in life at the remarkable collection of fine dining restaurants, elegant and sophisticated bars, and high-end boutiques that are found around every corner in Georgetown.
Snorkel in Stingray City
A curious and fascinating phenomenon, vast crowds of stingrays are drawn to these shallow sandbars on the northwest corner of Grand Cayman, largely thanks to the presence of local fishermen gutting and skinning their catches nearby. Now nearly tame, these gentle creatures make a spectacular sight, and swimming or snorkeling with them is a unique experience that should not be missed.
Dive the USS Kittiwake
Grand Cayman is surrounded by world-class dive sites, but the majestic sunken ruin of the USS Kittiwake is one of the best. A magnificent shipwreck, it offers experienced divers a truly magical, atmospheric experience.
Dive Bloody Bay Marine Reserve
Another of Grand Cayman’s best dive sites, Bloody Bay is a veritable forest of blooming coral and stunning marine life that is world-famous and hugely popular. It offers wonderful diving for all levels, with shallow sites for beginners to the dramatic Bloody Bay Wall which plummets thousands of feet into the deep blue of the ocean.
