in Sports
A A

Team Evolution is a nonprofit organization. Team Evolution’s primary focus is to provide quality basketball training while also educating on school selection & recruitment.

Evolution Basketball provides development and competition opportunities in both official languages to boys and girls in the National Capital Region. We strive to provide a supportive yet challenging environment that promotes competition, development, and self-confidence. From development groups to elite teams competing in AAU tournaments, players will leave Team Evolution’s programs better equipped to succeed in basketball and life. Our philosophy is simple: work hard, stay positive, and get better!

The Evo Culture is all about getting ready and making the small daily changes and sacrifices that are necessary to become a great athlete and basketball player. Team Evolution’s training programs will teach you things that will help you succeed on and off the court. By focusing on the process and details of every part of the game, players will learn how to set goals, work hard, and push their limits in a winning culture.

Evolution Basketball was started in 2015 to make sure that young players in Ottawa have access to programs in both English and French. We work with players of all ages and skill levels to improve their technical skills. Team Evolution’s different basketball programs teach the basics of the game using techniques that are tailored to each player’s needs and skills.

The Evo Family is not just about basketball. Team Evolution’s coaches are committed to helping each player reach their short-term and long-term goals by giving them honest advice, direction, and life lessons. Every day, we talk about leadership, confidence, positive energy, being ready, taking responsibility, being accountable, hard work, persistence, respect, and not giving up.

This fall, boys and girls of all ages and skill levels will be able to join teams through EVOLUTION Basketball.

EVO will keep running programs in line with all CDC and state recommendations.

We are here to give every student-athlete a chance to keep growing in a way that is safe and best for every family.

EVOelite Club Teams are highly competitive AAU teams that play in the toughest regional and local tournaments in New England. Every player has to try out, but not everyone makes the team.

EVOelite Teams

EVOLUTION Basketball has options for team programs for as many players as possible at all skill levels. EVOelite Team Program is for players who want to play at a high level, improve their game, and be important players at the high school level. We expect that EVO will be your top priority and that you will want to compete in Team Evolution’s National Team program in the summer or maybe in a Power Up travel tournament.

EVO AAU Basketball Teams

Grades 3-12 | Boys & Girls

This program does offer some opportunities for high school players to show off their skills, as well as 1-2 travel/overnight tournaments each season. We also offer the most competitive team and most complete player development organization in New England. For Team Evolution’s highest-level teams, we continue to offer unmatched programs, services, support, and opportunities, such as:

  • Professional coaching and college exposure and showcase opportunities for Team Evolution’s players. National-level tournaments on the best circuits like USJN, Under Armour, Nike, Adidas, and more every year, including NCAA-certified LIVE Period Events.
  • The most time on the court to practice, and learn new skills, and the training makes it possible to play in most tournaments each season.
  • [OPTIONAL ADD TO TEAM] College Recruiting Platform Service with Video Highlights of Teams and Players (SportsRecruits, $25/mo)
  • An organization and family that cares about you on and off the court, now and in the future, in sports, and life…

Team Evolution’s “Power Up” program, which is free for VIP members, is just one more way that Team Evolution’s program keeps giving you more chances. We want to practice more, get more reps, play in as many tournaments as we can, and play with players from our best teams. Power Up gives you the most chances to play and more freedom to play locally or nationally, depending on what works best for you and your family. If you want to know more about this or VIP Membership, just let us know.

About Basketball

How much do you know about basketball on a scale from 1 to 10? Whether you said 1, 10, or somewhere in between, there is always something to learn about basketball. Keep reading to get some good tips on how to improve your basketball skills.

Work on the kinds of shots you’ll face in a typical game. Even though it’s fun to play HORSE and try crazy shots, that doesn’t prepare you for the real game. You want to get good at the kinds of shots you see most often. Repeat them over and over again.

Make sure to change your direction often when you have the ball. It is important to take advantage of the fact that the whole court is open to you. Make sure you shift your weight in the right way as you move to the right or left to make moving with the ball easier.

When you throw a pass over your head, you should try to keep the ball from going behind your head. If you do, it’s easier to steal the ball. Also, bringing the ball behind your head makes it take longer to throw an overhead pass. Put it over your head and throw it.

You should be ready for any defense the other team might use. You can bet that a lot of the game will be played in a zone, but don’t be surprised if it changes to one-on-one coverage just to confuse you. If you haven’t practiced in this kind of situation, you might lose control quickly.

If you want to be good at team basketball, you should jump rope for 30 minutes before practice. You’ll get used to being tired and winded when you play basketball. If you do this, you’ll be in better shape than people who just show up to practice, which can help you make shots when it’s late in the game.

The chest pass is one of the best ways to get the ball to another player on your team. To do the chest pass, step into the pass with your knees bent. Then, make sure your thumbs are facing down and the ball is coming off your fingertips.

Basketball shoes don’t last forever, so keep that in mind. Ask at the store or do some research to find out how many games or months a good pair should last before you need to buy a new one. When you’re moving around on the court, you need to feel safe in your shoes.

Don’t only work on offense. In basketball, players always have to play both offense and defense, which isn’t the case in some other sports. There are no breaks in the game, and a great shooter who can’t defend well can hurt his or her team. You have to learn how to play well on both ends of the court.

If you have the ball, it’s important to keep it safe. Make sure no one can take it from you by dribbling it to the side. You can dribble the ball in front of you, but make sure to move it to the side if someone comes up to you or if you go for the goal if no one is around.

Move the ball back and forth on the court during practice to get a good workout. Start by running to the free throw line, and then go back to the end of the court. Then dribble to the middle and back, then to the far free throw line and back, and then the whole length of the court.

Dribbling the ball on a patch of dirt is a great way to work out your arms. This will take a lot of power because when you hit the ball, the dirt soaks up most of the energy you put into it. Even if you do this for a few minutes, don’t push yourself too hard or you could hurt your arm.

If you want to be a better basketball rebounder, you need to know how to box out your opponent. If your opponent misses a shot, the best way to box him or her out and get the ball is to put your body in front of him or her. Make sure this person isn’t in the way of the basket. This will give you a chance to grab the ball as it bounces off the backboard and rim.

Don’t leave your defensive stance. You can move your feet from side to side or push off with the other foot to stay in place. Don’t let your feet get crossed, or it will be hard to get around you.

To get better at shooting, you should take a lot of shots every day from every spot on the court. If you want to get better at this, try dribbling and then stopping to make a quick shot. Don’t worry about the target until you’re in the air. That makes you more accurate.

Outside of the court, the only thing you should ever pay attention to is your coach yelling. It doesn’t matter if the fans cheer or boo. Or, you could just say how many people are there. Don’t listen to your parents at all. Your coach, not your parents, let you join the team and decides when you play.

When you’re on defense, put your hands up. Put your hands in their faces and make it hard for them to see. Even if they are taller or faster than you, you have a better chance of stopping what they want to do if you put your hands up in their faces and block their line of sight.

If you want to catch a loose ball, you can’t just stand still under the net. As the player who has the ball moves, so does where the ball will end up. This means that your position must also change. Adjust yourself all the time so that you are always in the best place to catch the ball.

Do you think you could get better on the court if you used these tips? Now it’s time to see how well they do. Take what you’ve learned and see how it can help you play better basketball. You might even surprise yourself, and who knows, you might be the next big star.

A Guide for Basketball Players and Fans

Basketball season can be all-consuming for both players and fans who follow their favorite teams. To keep fans happy, you have to keep them cheering by playing well. Everyone on the team has to do something, so you need to know what it takes to be a good basketball player. Read on for some great tips that will help you win more often.

Work on the kinds of shots you’ll face in a typical game. It’s fun to play HORSE and try crazy shots, but that doesn’t help you get ready for the real game. You want to get good at the kinds of shots you see most often. Repeat them over and over again.

Try doing basketball drills that help you learn how to get the ball back from outside your area. No matter where the ball is, good rebounders will try to get it. Bad rebounders will just stand there and watch the ball because they think they can’t get to it. Run some drills that make the ball go far away from you. This will help you learn how to get the ball out of your area. One way is to throw it off the backboard and go get it.

Practice dribbling the basketball with your eyes closed to get better at it. This will help you dribble the ball and keep an eye on what’s going on in the game. Be sure to practice while moving, too, so that you can dribble and move around the court without ever having to look down at the ball.

Do something with your hands. Use a hand with a deflection to stop intercepts and shots. Use a lowball hand to block low passes and try to poke the ball away from your opponent. When you play the ball, always move your hand up. If you reach down for the ball, it could be a foul.

Even if it means giving up a good shot, basketball players should learn to pass more. If your team isn’t behind and needs the score, letting other players try will help the team as a whole. If you take all the shots you can, other players and probably the coach will think you are selfish and not a good team player.

To handle the ball correctly, you have to spread your fingers. This will help you make sure you can’t lose it when you try to hold it. As little as possible, your palm should touch the ball. When you shoot or pass the ball at the goal, you can only touch it with your fingers.

Take care of yourself and make sure you’re ready for your games. Don’t let your team down by staying up all night, eating junk food before games, or skipping practice because you’d rather do something else. commit to your team by being there for them on and off the court.

To play good defense, keep your eyes on the ball when you’re guarding the person with the ball. If you look at his eyes instead, he will fake a pass one way by looking in that direction and then dribble around you the other way. The ball can’t make up what it’s going to do.

You have to learn how to follow the ball off the rim to get offensive rebounds in basketball. Get used to watching people shoot, and pay attention to how the ball bounces. Then get used to anticipating those bounces so you can get around the defender before he has a chance to box you out.

Get better at sports. There aren’t many great basketball players who aren’t also great all-around athletes. This is a very athletic sport, so play all kinds of athletic games to get ready for it. This can be anything, like swimming, running, or riding a bike. You will be better at the court if you play any of these sports.

To get better at handling the ball, you might want to work out your forearms and hands. Doing wrist curls is a good way to improve your basketball skills. Good playing doesn’t just come naturally; it also takes a lot of hard work and discipline. You need to be able to move quickly and change directions on the spot.

If you want to be successful as a guard, you have to be able to see the court well. Keep your eyes moving and pay attention to what’s going on around you. Learn how to keep your head up while dribbling the ball. If you look down while dribbling, you won’t be able to see what’s going on on the court.

A bounce pass is a good way to get past an opponent who is blocking you hard. A defender will lose his game if he doesn’t see the bounce pass coming. To avoid a turnover, keep your bounce passes as simple as possible. This move helps get the ball to a teammate who is better positioned to score.

If no one is open and your defender is facing you, you can sneak the ball in by tossing it lightly off the back of the defender. Then, put both feet in bounds, grab the ball, and go. The ball only needs to touch a player in bounds before you can touch it again.

One of the best ways to pass the ball to a teammate is with your chest. As long as there is no one from the other team between you and the person you want to talk to, go for it. You can pass with more power if you take a step. You could also move the ball quickly without taking a step.

As you’ve just read, there are many ways to improve your game. If a player is good at what they do, there will be more people in the stands cheering for them. The fun of the game comes from everyone taking part. You have to try your hardest in every game. So, remember what you’ve learned, and be a player that everyone wants on their team.

how to become a good basketball player

Almost everyone knows something about basketball, even if it’s just the basics. But a lot of people want to learn more about the sport and go to a whole new level. If you want to learn more, this article can be a very helpful resource for you going forward.

Make sure to change your direction often when you have the ball. It is important to take advantage of the fact that the whole court is open to you. Make sure you shift your weight in the right way as you move to the right or left to make moving with the ball easier.

To make free throws, you need to be strong both physically and mentally. Even if you can teach your body how to make a free throw right, you might not succeed if your mind isn’t ready. Stay calm and keep your mind on the basket, and you’ll make more free throws.

The chest pass is one of the best ways to get the ball to another player on your team. To do the chest pass, step into the pass with your knees bent. Then, make sure your thumbs are facing down and the ball is coming off your fingertips.

As you work out to improve your game, it’s important to work on your footwork and strength. If your core is stronger, you’ll be able to stay on your feet better. Your muscles in your hips, back, stomach, and behind need to be worked on. You can improve your fancy footwork by jumping rope like a boxer.

As you try to keep up your skills during the off-season, make sure your fitness routine is fun. Change things up and do workouts that focus on basic skills, strength, and endurance. You’ll feel sharp and ready to go when the new season starts.

Don’t ever throw the ball at someone else. Even if you are angry or upset, you should never take it out on the ball. Not only will you get a foul, but you could also hurt the person you throw it at very badly. Before you do something stupid, take a deep breath.

Ask a friend to videotape your games so you can see how you do. Did you notice anything that could have been done better? Don’t waste your time being hard on yourself. Just be honest with yourself. It can be helpful to look at yourself the way you really look and not just the way you think you look.

Every time you shoot free throws, do the same thing. You have 10 seconds to shoot, so you can do whatever you want with that short amount of time. You can bounce it a few times, spin it in your hands, talk to yourself, and so on. Try to think outside the box and come up with a plan that works for you. Repeating the same steps over and over will help you get better at this shot in the long run.

When the defense is all over you, passing between the legs can help. To get better at bouncing the ball, move it forward and backward. If you can do this move well, it can give you an edge on the court.

If you want to be a better basketball player, work out your forearms and wrists as much as you can. This will help you a lot with how you handle and control the ball. The forearms of a good dribbler are always strong. Do wrist curls as part of your exercise routine to build up strength in your forearms and wrists.

Getting the ball up the court in less than five dribbles is a great way to practice the fast break. Even though it may seem impossible, this rule gets easier the more you use it. During the game, you will notice that you use this to your advantage during the fast break.

One of the most important parts of basketball is being able to see. You need to work on improving your vision, especially on the edges of your field of view. If you can learn to use your peripheral vision during the game, you will be able to read the defense, see open teammates, and find chances to score.

In basketball, you have to pass the ball around. You should try out different ways to pass so you can figure out which pass is best for each situation. Try to pass the ball to a teammate in the simplest way possible to make sure it gets there. When a teammate is in a better spot on the court or when you are being closely guarded, pass the ball to them.

If you want to be a good defensive player, you have to make your opponent’s play hard to follow. Don’t let your opponent get comfortable on the court. Be bold when you make a move. You don’t want the defense to, so to speak, pick your plays. If you don’t play aggressively, your opponent will beat you. You should move first and catch them off guard.

Share with your team at all times. When someone starts to guard you, stop dribbling and look for someone to pass to. If you don’t, your teammates won’t bother trying to find an open spot because they’ll know you’re a ball hog who doesn’t pass when the time is right.

To play the best defense, you have to beat your man to where he wants to go and make him go somewhere else. This means that your feet need to move quickly, so practice shuffling from side to side without crossing your feet. This is the fastest way to move from one side of the floor to the other, and it will make your man mad.

With a 2-3 zone defense, you can trap an opponent with your point and guards. Then, your guards who are defending should circle the point guard to keep him from moving. Then, have the forwards who are blocking run to the players on the wings. The point guard should make a pass that is easy for your forwards to steal.

Most people know something about basketball, but that doesn’t mean they’re happy with what they know. By learning as much as possible about basketball, one’s enjoyment of the game can grow in ways that might surprise them. We hope that this article has helped you fall in love with basketball for a long time.
