As well as protecting against sleep deprivation, turmeric can prevent oxidative damage. You can use this powerful spice to unwind, boost your mood, combat sadness, and maybe even reduce anxiety (as shown in mice). People with long-term problems may also benefit from it by reducing inflammation.

Therefore, drinking warm turmeric milk before going to bed can help you sleep better. If you have insomnia or wake up frequently at night, you need to include golden milk in your routine. In addition to speeding up recovery, turmeric milk also heals internal injuries or swellings.

While you are sleeping, your body is at rest and can repair itself. Combining turmeric with milk, cinnamon, black pepper powder, and jaggery boosts immunity. Turmeric milk can also reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and keep your skin glowing by delaying the signs of aging.

How to make it?

You can turmeric milk as follows:

  • 2 cups of your choice of milk (whole, coconut, almond, etc.)
  • 1.5 teaspoons of ground turmeric
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 inch of peeled fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • In a small saucepan, heat the milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, honey, or maple syrup until it is simmering hot.
  • Stir very well to dissolve ingredients and split into two mugs.

Benefits

The health benefits of golden milk are endless. Turmeric does everything from reducing inflammation to offering a wealth of antioxidants. Drinking turmeric milk can help fight against inflammation and protect against oxidative damage and issues that create sleep problems.

It also helps to lower anxiety levels. Curcumin, a beneficial compound found in turmeric, helps to relax the nervous system, relieve tense muscles, and promote sleep. Prepare for a restful night’s sleep by combining one cup of milk with a teaspoon of turmeric and a pinch of cardamom powder.

Precautions and warnings

During pregnancy, turmeric milk isn’t a good idea. You shouldn’t use it if you have gallbladder problems because they can worsen. Additionally, it would help if you didn’t use it for bleeding problems because it clots the blood. It also decreases sugar levels in patients with diabetes.

Some people may have stomach distress from turmeric. It might exacerbate digestive issues like GERD. If taking turmeric makes your GERD symptoms worse, stop. Curcumin, a substance found in turmeric, is thought to have estrogen-like properties. Theoretically, turmeric can exacerbate illnesses that are affected by hormones. However, some studies indicate that turmeric lessens the effects of estrogen in some cancer cells that are hormone-sensitive.

Similarly, when men consume it \, turmeric may suppress testosterone levels and slow sperm motility. This could lower fertility. People who are attempting to get pregnant should use turmeric with caution. And if you’re taking any turmeric supplement, you must inform your doctor. Similarly, high doses of turmeric may make it more difficult for iron to be absorbed. When treating persons with an iron deficit, turmeric should be administered cautiously.

The Way Forward!

We all need a good night’s sleep to function properly. Therefore, you should give turmeric milk a try if you suffer from insomnia or are having trouble sleeping at night. Who knows, it works for you too.
