There’s a specialized video game for just about any interest. Whether looking to play a puzzle game like Wordle or join one of the millions of online players in a battle royale like League of Legends, gamers have more options today than ever before. At least, in theory.
Many gamers choose their next title based on when and how they like to game. For example, PCs and console games are designed for traditional gamers, who are likely to spend hours in front of the screen to develop their skills and advance in a game.
Others, like casino gamers, might comb through free online games to find their next poker, blackjack, or slots platform. Here, the emphasis is on mobile options for convenient gaming and welcome offers for those signing up with a new platform.
Still, there are some gamers who won’t be worried about gaming via console or selecting a free game. Instead, they’re concerned with a game’s theme, whether horror, fantasy, or another genre. Nepali gamers, for example, might be on the lookout for themes and settings that reflect some aspect of their daily life. In this case, which games out there fit the bill for this specific interest?
Far Cry 4
The Far Cry series is a first-person shooter (FPS) game. The series covers different timelines and global regions, with its fourth installation based in a fictional Himalayan country… which might look familiar to places like Kathmandu.
In the game, players must navigate a civil war between a royal army and a rebel movement. The open-world format leaves plenty of freedom for side quests and exploration, which lets gamers explore this dynamic setting.
Ludo
This mobile game comes from Nepali developers at Yarsa Games. As such, it’s uniquely developed with local players in mind. Since its release in the Google Play Store, Ludo has been downloaded over 50 million times. Similar to the Sorry! boardgame, Ludo lets gamers connect with other players in a dynamic strategy-based dice game.

Overwatch
Overwatch is one of the world’s most popular games and a topic of major eSports competitions. It’s a multiplayer FPS game that pits two teams against one another to complete objectives in a period of time. Each player chooses from a roster of dozens of characters—and some were based on Nepali culture.
Zenyatta was inspired by monk life—even his Orbs of Destruction and Orbs of Harmony move resemble prayer beads. After leaving his omnic monastery, Zenyatta went on a journey to find peace and reconnect with humanity. Overwatch includes an NPC, Tekartha Mondatta, who delves deeper into Zenyatta’s backstory about Shambali monkhood.
BagChal: Tigers and Goats
TechnoGuff took a big step to recreate the traditional game of Bagchal for a mobile device. Since then, it’s become a super-popular digital version of the original board game. Gamers begin with twenty goats and four tigers, at which point the goats must surround the tigers or the tigers must eat all of the goats. Though traditionally played with multiple people, BagChal: Tigers and Goats also include an automated mode that lets gamers play against a computer.
